Brick count calculator per square metre and wall
Bricks = net wall area in m² × bricks per m² (by default 52). The calculator also gives the masonry mortar at 0.04 m³ per m² and rounds the brick count up.
Calculator
- Bricks
- 5,200 bricks
- Mortar
- 4 m³
Method, step by step
- Work out the wall area: length × height of each wall, minus doors and windows.
- Multiply the net area by the bricks per m² and round up.
- Multiply the area by the mortar ratio to get the mortar volume in m³.
Worked example
Inputs
- Wall area (m²): 100
- Bricks = wall area × bricks per m² = 100 × 52 = 5,200 bricks (rounded up).
- Mortar = 100 × 0.04 = 4 m³.
- In thousands: 5,200 bricks = 6 thousand, rounded up, the unit Ta3mir uses when it adds the result to a BOQ.
Result
- Bricks
- 5,200 bricks
- Mortar
- 4 m³
Assumptions and default ratios
| Ratio | Default value |
|---|---|
| Bricks per square metre | 52 bricks/m² |
| Masonry mortar | 0.04 m³/m² |
- Bricks per m² depend on the brick size, wall thickness and joint thickness; change the default to match your bricks.
- Breakage and waste are not included; add them before ordering.
Frequently asked questions
How many bricks are there in a square metre?
The default is 52 bricks per m². The right figure for your project depends on the brick size, wall thickness and joints; lay one trial square metre on site and enter the count under the ratios.
Should I subtract doors and windows?
Yes. Enter the net wall area without openings, or you will order more bricks than you need.
How do I enter bricks in a BOQ?
Ta3mir adds this result to a project BOQ in thousands of bricks; you can then edit the item description and unit to match the contract. The worked example shows the conversion to thousands.
Add the result to your project BOQ in Ta3mir
In Ta3mir the same calculators work inside your project: send a result to a BOQ line in one click and save your own default ratios for every calculation.
